The lotus, the kamal, is among the most sacred forms in Indian devotion: the flower that rises unstained from the water, the seat on which the divine is shown, the offering laid at the feet of the deity. In the Pichwai tradition of Nathdwara, where this art has adorned the shrine of Shrinathji for more than three centuries, the lotus appears again and again as a symbol of purity and grace.

Here it is hand-formed in 925 sterling silver and finished in hand-laid enamel, each petal worked by eye in the temple palette. It is a quieter motif than the cow brooches, less about presence, more about meaning, and it rewards those who recognise what it carries.

It is worn on the bandhgala, sherwani, or blazer, and equally as a saree pin or sir pench. A devotional object first, a piece of fine jewellery always, and for many, the most graceful way to wear Pichwai.
